Savasana…one of the best parts of a Yoga class! Whether used as a centering time at the beginning of a class or meditative relaxation time at the end of a class it is powerful. You may hear some Yogi’s jokingly say, “I only came for Savasana”. It is what hooked my husband into coming back to his second class and now he has been practicing for almost 1 year! We come to Yoga for many individual reasons, but we often stay with our Yoga practice for the same reason. That time to just be in our own space is so valuable in this fast paced world. We are blitzed with information overload and non-stop activity leaving our nervous system affected by the chronic stress of it all. Savasana is about integrating your Yoga practice and being transformed by it. It may be the only time spent in a meditative space for some people all week so it is such an important part of a Yoga class. My biggest tip for you – If you practice at home – don’t skip it just because you aren’t in the studio. Take time to allow your body and mind to reap the benefits this pose holds. A deceptively simple pose such as Savasana is where the real power yoga is found.

I am almost ready to celebrate one year of teaching Yoga in April which is a huge milestone for me. This site will be dedicated to teaching Yoga, stress relief, my own Yoga practice and life in general…because as they say “its all Yoga”. I have been practicing on and off for about 15 years, but it was when I faced physical, mental and emotional burnout working night shift that I deepened my Yoga practice and decided to become a Teacher. This year has been full of ups and downs and coming to find my own voice as a Teacher. I hope this blog will benefit my students and others who practice Yoga. I will be posting alot on Caregiver Yoga and burnout and information on my Yoga workshops for Caregivers…Namaste.
